An inspirational journey through time and craftsmanship
Reclaimed oak planks, sourced from the wide-open prairie landscapes of Kentucky, USA, are the sustainable soul of our Food Benches. Formerly ranch and railway fencing, the wood is beautifully rugged and resilient, each plank chosen for its enduring strength compared to more delicate softwoods, with the solid bench legs crafted from reclaimed oak beams. Weathered and wise, these materials give a nod to their prairie-living roots, carrying echoes of days gone by.

Craft
A handcrafted labour of love
Before making its journey across the ocean to our UK workshop, the timber undergoes a transformative process. Kiln-dried and treated with precision, it arrives in prime condition, ready to be expertly handcrafted by us into your one-of-a-kind kitchen island. Planing by industrial sanders unveils the natural beauty of the wood before our craftsmen handpick each plank and beam for its unique character. To capture the oak’s original colour, we apply lime before the final lacquering.
Top-notch 19mm Egger board forms the internal carcasses, with a choice of veneered or solid oak soft-close drawers with dovetail joints. Optional accessories include a cutlery drawer, hanging rail, integrated storage jars, and drawer liners. Worktops – the benches’ crowning glory – are available in a wide range of colours and materials, such as natural granite and marble, quartz, porcelain as well as metal finishes.

From us to you: delivery and installation
Good things take time (and love and effort). Our lead-times are six to eight weeks from the moment you order your Food Bench, and we will notify you two weeks prior to delivery with a confirmed arrival date. It’s plain sailing from there on in: our two-man delivery team will assemble your Food Bench – this usually takes about two hours – leaving it ready for the worktop to be fitted by a specialist fabricator.
All that’s left for you to do is gather your friends and family to congregate, cook, and create joyful memories.
